Pat Lopez confirmed as Lancaster County Health Director

After a unanimous vote from Lincoln City Council, The Board of County Commissioners and The Board of Health, Pat Lopez is now officially Health Director for Lancaster county.

The votes come after calls from some that Lopez didn’t have the authority to enforce directed health measures because she was never duly appointed to her role.

Officials at each meeting standing up for Lopez and commending her work and sacrifices after stepping in as interim health director in May 2019. Lopez even receiving two standing ovations at the County Commissioners meeting and the Board of Health meeting.

“I was very appreciative, you know its an honor to serve the city. I think it helps so we can get back to focusing on the work we need to do. So, their support has been tremendous this whole time and its part of what makes our community work, we’re all working together,” Lopez said in an exclusive interview with Channel 8.

After receiving her third and final approval from the Board of Health, it was business as usual as the board discussed COVID-19 in Lancaster County.
