Patchy fog possible west of Lincoln; trending dry again
It had literally been weeks (almost a full month) without rain for most in southeast Nebraska. We broke that streak yesterday, with Lincoln picking up around a half inch even!
That added moisture at the surface with cooling temperatures as clouds cleared overnight resulted in some fog forming early – especially near Aurora, Kearney, Grand Island and areas just north of there. Visibility at time has dropped below a 1/4-mile, so some may see that patchy fog through the morning commute before it dissipates.
Other than that, the morning will be quite pleasant with light winds and temperatures in the 50s and 60s.
By the afternoon under sunny skies, we’ll see temperatures warming to about 80 degrees. Sinking motion on the backside of the system that brought us rain will keep more sun around today.
Highs will range statewide from the upper 60s to almost the lower 80s from the northwest corner side of the state down through southeast Nebraska.
More cloud cover will blanket the skies Tuesday night as a cold front drops south through Nebraska. Into early Wednesday, those clouds may spit out a few sprinkles in far eastern Nebraska, if anything.
We’ll be cooler behind the front on Wednesday. Then another front keeps temperatures cooler by Friday. Up, down, up, down!
So we’re trending dry through the end of the week.
And the Good Life Halfsy looks comfortable and dry by Sunday: morning temperatures will be in the 40s before early afternoon temperatures are warming to about the middle 60s, yet a south/southeast breeze will pick up through the morning hours with gusts around 20-25 mph.
