LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating a deadly hit-and-run Thursday near Big Springs.

Around 8:40 p.m., authorities received reports of a fatal crash on Interstate 80, just southwest of Big Springs.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found 72-year-old Dennis Hall of Clovis, California, dead outside a vehicle parked on the shoulder.

The vehicle, a Lincoln Town Car, had a flat tire, according to the patrol.

Investigators think Hall was trying to change a flat tire when he was hit by a passing vehicle.

Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle leaving the scene, and investigators have found evidence indicating the vehicle was a semitrailer.

The patrol said the semi might have damage on the front passenger side.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Nebraska State Patrol at 308-632-1211.
