Pattern change underway; near daily chance of rain through start of weekend

A cold front passed through southeast Nebraska on Tuesday.  Behind the front, cooler and less humid air is arriving in the region.

Also, a line of light showers is moving through central Nebraska.

The line will continue to move east/southeast overnight.  Isolated showers will be possible overnight, likely in the Lincoln area around 4 a.m. Wednesday.

After a few early morning showers Wednesday, things should dry out.  Dew point temperatures are projected to be in the middle 50s, so it will not feel as humid.

Temperatures will top out in the middle to upper 80s under partly to mostly cloudy skies.

The chance for rain increases Thursday, as scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible.

Temperatures and humidity increase Friday.

Highs will jump back to the middle 90s. Low-level moisture will surge back into the area on southerly winds, sending dew point temperatures into the lower and middle 70s.

Combined, this will put the heat index in the lower 100s on Friday afternoon.
