Pedestrian killed on I-80 near Greenwood

One person is dead after being struck by a vehicle on westbound I-80 near Greenwood early Sunday morning.

It’s the second fatal accident to occur along the roadway Sunday morning. 

Sheriff Brueggemann reports that a fatality accident occurred on Interstate 80 Mile Marker 423 westbound at 2:32 a.m. Sunday morning. This is west of the rest area and east of the Greenwood interchange.

A pedestrian walked out in front of vehicle and was struck in a traffic lane.

Deputies are conducting a Coroner investigation.

Nebraska State Patrol is handling the accident investigation.

Driver of the vehicle involved called 911 to report the incident.

There were no signs of alcohol use or impairment with the driver of the vehicle.

The name of the victim has not yet been released.
