‘People are scared’: Business slows at Nebraska Ag Expo amid farmers’ financial fears
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Farmers from throughout the Midwest are spending part of the week at the Nebraska Ag Expo.
Vendors from farming-based companies will be at the Sandhills Global Event Center through Thursday, selling new technology and innovations.
But businesses said they noticed that farmers do not have as much cash on hand for spending.

Ernie Porter, a representative of Martin-Till, said the agriculture industry in Nebraska is facing concerns right now.
“People are scared,” he said. “They’re hanging on to everything they can right now.”
Brent Nesbitt with Unified Ag Solutions said he has noticed a reluctancy from customers to make big purchases this year.
“I would say there’s been a slowdown for sure,” he said. “There’s been a hesitance to purchase things currently.”

As Congress works to extend the farm bill into next year, many farmers are left uncertain about the future.
“Obviously with low corn prices, it makes a huge difference,” Porter said. “At this point, they’re evaluating what they’re going to do.”
