‘People love this team’: Ticket prices climb for Husker volleyball match

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Fans are going to have to fork it over if they want to go to a Husker volleyball postseason game.

The tickets for Friday’s match against Florida A&M sold out in just a few hours.

Now, resale prices have skyrocketed.

“Not surprised at all,” said Bruce Gottsleben, a season ticket holder. “I mean, think of what these gals have done this year and how well the volleyball team has been doing for years and compare that to football. Nebraska people want something to root for. So I’m not surprised that they’re going so quickly and for so much money as well because people love this team.”

Gottsleben was able to secure his own tickets to the Bob Devaney Sports Center for the first few rounds of the NCAA tournament.

“Actually, for season ticket holders, it’s pretty easy, pretty straightforward,” he said.

But for other fans, it’s tough to get a seat.

Only a handful of tickets were available Tuesday afternoon on StubHub, which is a resale website.

The cheapest one available is more than $200.

If you want to be closer to the action, it will cost you $600 to $700.

StubHub showed one courtside ticket that sold for more than $1,100.

Gottsleben said the prices are crazy high, but it’s just the way volleyball tickets are nowadays.

“When we do have tickets available, I have a list as long as my arm of people that want them,” he said. “And I can also sell them for a lot of money. Sometimes I can sell tickets for one game, and it pays for my whole season.”

He said that the atmosphere at Husker volleyball games is incredible and that fans love to support the women as they volley for a championship.

But he said no matter how this postseason goes, Nebraska will be proud of the Huskers.

“This team I really think can go all the way,” Gottsleben said. “They’re doing really well, and I think it’s just a winning season for them either way.”
