Person found dead after rural eastern Nebraska house fire

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A person was killed Saturday in a house fire in rural eastern Nebraska, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office says.
Ashland Fire and Rescue was sent to a house fire in the Horseshoe Lake community in rural Cass County.
The house was on fire, and additional crews from Murdock were called in to help extinguish the blaze.
First responders found a body inside the home. The body has not yet been identified, the sheriff’s office said.
The Nebraska State Fire Marshal Agency is investigating the fire, and an autopsy is pending.
