Pet wallaby killed when hit by car in central Nebraska
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A pet wallaby died Wednesday night after being hit by a car in central Nebraska.
According to KRVN News, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office was called to a crash reportedly involving a kangaroo on Highway 6 near Overland Avenue, just southeast of Kenesaw.
The sheriff’s office said the person who hit the animal reported it right away.
After an investigation, deputies determined that it was actually a wallaby and were able to figure out who it belonged to.
The wallaby escaped an enclosure and was wandering when it was hit, according to the sheriff’s office.
Wallabies are native to Australia and New Guinea and are much smaller compared with kangaroos.
