Pfizer begins shipment of COVID-19 pill

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (KLKN) – Pfizer began shipment of their pill today after emergency use authorization from the Food and Drug Administration for their COVID-19 antiviral pill, PAXLOVID™.

Pfizer’s oral treatment is not yet approved but has been emergency authorized for use in mild-to-moderate COVID-19 cases in adults and pediatric patients who are at high risk for progression to severe COVID-19, including hospitalization or death.

“The good news is we have a product now that has about a 90% efficacy in preventing hospitalization, but the sobering news is, unfortunately, it is really a quite complicated and complex synthetic process,” White House Chief Medical Advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci said yesterday.

According to Dr. Fauci, the pill is currently being “mass-produced” so it may become widely available to those in need.
