LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Animal Control rescued a marmot that hitched a ride on a van from Wyoming.
In a Facebook post Sunday, animal control said it was notified of the marmot, which had been hiding in the van’s engine compartment.
Since the marmot is not native to Nebraska, animal control said it was “crucial” that it did not escape.
Animal control requested help from the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and Nebraska Wildlife Rehab.
After giving the marmot a sedative, animal control officers were able to safely remove it from the vehicle.
The marmot was found to be healthy and it is now awaiting transportation back to Wyoming.
