PHOTOS: Wildfire burns fields in central Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A wildfire broke out in central Nebraska on Wednesday afternoon as dry and windy conditions persist.

The fire started west of Loup City and spread to the north, according to the Sherman County Sheriff’s Office.

The Loup City Fire Department requested that those in the wildfire’s path evacuate.

On Wednesday evening, the sheriff’s office said the fire was contained.

Crews continued to put out hot spots and keep an eye out for flare-ups.
