Pillen requests federal disaster money for Lincoln windstorm
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Gov. Jim Pillen requested federal disaster aid Tuesday for the July 31 windstorm.
Pillen is seeking a disaster declaration for five counties in the Omaha and Lincoln areas: Cass, Douglas, Lancaster, Sarpy and Saunders.
He said storms on July 31 and Aug. 1 caused more than $34.6 million in damage.

In Lincoln, a windstorm knocked out power to more than 30,000 Lincoln Electric System customers.
In the Omaha Public Power District, 221,000 customers lost power, according to Pillen.
The storms also brought hail and flooding, Pillen said.
