Pilot ‘fearlessly’ crash lands plane in rural Nebraska field, sheriff’s office says
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – No one was injured Saturday after a plane crash in a rural Merrick County field, the sheriff’s office says.
The crash happened around 4 p.m. near Third Road, just north of Chapman.
A plane heading to Grand Island had low fuel, so the pilot “fearlessly” landed the plane in a field, the sheriff’s office said.
The pilot avoided powerlines and managed to land the plane safely. The pilot and two passengers were uninjured, and the plane sustained minor damage.
Volunteer fire crews from Chapman and St. Libory responded to the scene.
