Pink gas pumps are helping Fuel the Cure

MINDEN, Neb. — Driving around town you might notice some pink gas pumps at your local station.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and all month long ethanol blend pumps will support the cure.
This is the Fuel the Cure fundraiser.
Twenty-four gas stations all the way from Sioux City to Scottsbluff are working to find a cure.
“So for every gallon of higher blend that is used from these stations during the month of October, the station will donate three cents a gallon and that’s going directly to the Fred and Pamela Cancer Foundation,” said Ethanol Board Member Megan Grimes.
Grimes said breast cancer awareness and ethanol may be an unlikely duo, but because ethanol dilutes toxic chemicals in gasoline, it could be diluting chemicals that cause cancer.
“So when we’re using more ethanol, we’re reducing our pollution which leads to healthier air and a healthier environment for us,” said Grimes.
