Pius X holds on to get close win against Hastings
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Pius X Thunderbolts beat the Hastings Tigers in a 9-7 slog on Friday night.
The score was 7-0 going into the second half before Pius’ defense scored a safety to put the Thunderbolts on the board.
Later in the second half, Pius put together a drive that started with a nice run by quarterback Kolbe Volkmer to get the Thunderbolts near the red zone.
Next play, Pius ran again, with Volkmer this time putting the Thunderbolts on the 1-yard line.
Running back Matt Boyh went into the end zone to give Pius the lead.
On the next Hastings possession, an interception would seal the Tigers’ fate.
Pius X will face Bennington at home next week.
Hastings will look for win No. 1 back at home against Seward.
