It’s not much to look at now, just a slab of concrete and some dirt.
Come November Pleasant Dale Fire Chief Nick Dankers hopes a new fire station will stand here, "The building is set to arrive I believe sometime next week, so they’ll start erecting the steel frame and structure."
The new building will be almost twice as large.
It will allow the crews to keep all their trucks and gear together– a luxury the department doesn’t currently have.
"Our current barn only houses three bays and it houses three trucks, we have two other trucks down in another building, so we definitely needed the room and the new addition will allow us to house five trucks in there," said Assistant Fire Chief Roger Michaelis.
Construction on the site started earlier this year, but complications at the site created unforeseen expenses.
To help offset those costs United Methodist Church held a benefit breakfast Sunday morning.
Donations were collected and the church matched the amount.
The Pleasant Dale Fire Department, which is run entirely by volunteers was thankful for the support.
They say the new station will help them better serve their community.
"It’s such a blessing; we’ve had such a huge support from everybody in our community," said Chief Dankers.
The pleasant dale fire chief says they hope to have the project completed by November.
If you would like to make a donation you can do so by dropping it off or mailing it to the fire station at: PO Box 128, 110 Ash St, Pleasant Dale, NE 68423.
