Poetry takes center stage at Sheldon Museum of Art

A group of high school students competed in the “Poetry Out Loud” state finals on Sunday afternoon.
Poetry took center stage at the Sheldon Art Museum on UNL’s campus.
It was the site of the poetry high school state finals for the state of Nebraska.
Sixteen high school students from all across the state were performing to win the chance to represent the state in Washington D.C. for the national championship.
All of the contestants received award certificates and poetry books.
The winning high school receives a $500 dollar stipend to be used for the purchase of more poetry books.
