Police ID bicyclist killed by train in north Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Police have identified the bicyclist who was killed Monday morning in a crash with a train in north Lincoln.

The crash involving an Amtrak train happened just after 12:30 a.m. near 33rd Street and Cornhusker Highway.

Todd Pearson, 62, was biking through the train crossing when he was hit by the train, according to police.

Officers found Pearson’s body in the ditch west of the crossing.  His bicycle was found on the rocks just south of the track.

Police said the railroad crossing arms were down, the lights were flashing and the train sounded its horn

An investigation is ongoing.
