Police identify pedestrian killed in east Lincoln crash
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Police have identified the woman who was fatally struck by a vehicle Friday afternoon in east Lincoln.
At around 2:30 p.m., Katherine Gogela, 42, was hit by a northbound vehicle near 84th Street and Cherrywood Drive.
Police said Gogela was crossing the street on the MoPac Trail.
She was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
LPD said the driver, a 19-year-old man, stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
Investigators noted there was no indication of impairment or excessive speed.

Gogela was a doctor at Lincoln Pediatric Group, according to the medical center’s Facebook page.
“She was a spectacular part of our group—a skilled, caring clinician, a loyal partner, a trusted friend, and a truly wonderful wife, mother, daughter and sister,” the medical center wrote. “Her example of dedication and care set a high standard for us all and we miss her greatly.”
