Police identify victim of deadly shooting at north Lincoln apartment complex

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Police on Thursday identified the man who was shot and killed by his brother in north Lincoln.

Johnathan McCray, 20, was shot outside an apartment complex near 14th and Superior streets around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.  He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

At a press conference, Lincoln Police Capt. Ben Miller said McCray was mistakenly shot by his 16-year-old brother as he was walking up to the building.

The teen, Kentrail McDaniel, is being charged as an adult with manslaughter and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.

In an update Thursday, police said investigators are now in possession of McDaniel’s firearm.
