Police identify victim of fatal crash on Highway 75

Police responded to a fatal crash early Sunday morning on Highway 75 at Fairview Road. 31-year-old Matthew Sharon of Nebraska City was the sole occupant and driver of the 2015 Dodge Journey.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 2007 GMC Sierra truck, has been identified as 38-year-old Justin Kirk from Plattsmouth, NE. There was one other passenger in the GMC Sierra at the time of the crash. 

The initial investigation indicates the 2015 Dodge Journey was southbound on Highway 75 near Fairview Road when it left the roadway and entered into the center median of Highway 75. The vehicle rolled, ejecting Sharon onto the roadway. The GMC Sierra, also traveling southbound on Highway 75, struck Sharon as he was laying in the roadway. Sharon was transported to the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased. Sharon was the only party transported for medical care from the scene.

The crash is still under investigation by the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the South Metro Crash Response Team.
