Police investigating attempted armed robbery at north Lincoln apartment

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Police are seeking the group involved in an attempted armed robbery at a north Lincoln apartment last month.

It happened on July 28, around 2:30 a.m., at an apartment near 24th and R streets.

The victim was in bed when two people entered his apartment through the balcony’s sliding glass door, according to police.

The intruders were described as two males in their upper teens, police said.

One of them was wearing a green ski mask and armed with a rifle.  The other male was donning a blue ski mask and black sunglasses.

The duo entered the victim’s bedroom and tried to take his phone and wallet, but were unsuccessful, according to police.

One of the intruders hit the victim in the arm with the rifle before jumping off the balcony and running away.

Police said the victim tried to chase them down the alley but lost track of them.

Security video showed at least five people who might have been involved in the attempted robbery.

Police are also investigating the theft of two electrical bicycles that happened near 27th and Superior streets on July 25.

The bicycles were in the back of a vehicle that was parked at the Fairfield Inn.

They were secured and chained to a bike rack, according to police.

Security video showed two people walking around the parking lot at around 5:30 a.m. and stealing the bikes.

The bikes are each valued at $2,500.
