Police investigating early morning homicide in south Omaha

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Omaha Police Department is investigating a homicide early Saturday morning in south Omaha.

Just before 5 a.m., officers were sent to the area of 30th and Y streets for an unknown 911 call.

Before officers arrived on scene, they were directed by Omaha Fire & Rescue to the location of a man who was found dead nearby, according to the police department.

The man was identified as 60-year-old Pedro Velasquez.

OPD is in the early stages of investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call the homicide unit at 402-44-5656 or Crime Stoppers at 402-444-STOP.
