Police investigate ‘verbal threat of violence’ at Columbus Middle School

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Columbus Police Department is investigating a threat of violence at a local middle school on Wednesday.

Around 7:30 a.m., officers were sent to Columbus Middle School on a report of a “verbal threat of violence.”

Investigators spoke to “persons of interest” in the situation, Police Capt. Doug Molczyk said in a press release.

An alert regarding the situation was sent out to middle school parents.

Columbus Public School Superintendent Chip Kay later said the threat was determined not to be credible.

He said the students involved will be disciplined.
