Police: Lincoln High student referred for making terroristic threats

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Officials say a Lincoln High School student shared threats of violence on Thursday.

A letter from Principal Mark Larson said the student was posting information on Snapchat about a potential threat.

Larson reported the post to police just after 9 a.m.

Lincoln Public Schools said police determined that the student was not directly threatening the school but was sharing rumors on social media.

But police said the student, a 16-year-old boy, was referred to juvenile court on suspicion of making terroristic threats.

Larson said the student would also face discipline from the school.

Police said they have investigated other social media posts throughout the day.

There are no active threats toward any LPS school, police said.
