LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Authorities in Nebraska are searching for a 29-year-old Lexington man accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl.

The Lexington Police Department said Thursday that Jimmy Bran-Lopez is wanted on suspicion of first-degree false imprisonment, child abuse and third-degree sexual assault.

Dawson County Judge Garrett Goodwin issued a warrant for his arrest on May 1, according to court records.

Between September 2018 and September 2020, Bran-Lopez sexually assaulted a girl in his vehicle, an arrest affidavit alleges.

She was 15 to 17 years old at the time; he was 23 to 25.

Court documents say she didn’t think people would believe her because “everyone thought he was a great guy,” so she didn’t report the assault.

But she told police about it last month, when they were investigating another allegation against Bran-Lopez.

He was charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child in that case. Police said he raped a 10-year-old girl more than 10 times in late 2020 and early 2021.

Bran-Lopez was arrested on April 15, but he paid $50,000 in bail two days later to be released.

He is a 5-foot-8, 200-pound Hispanic man with black hair and brown eyes.

Lexington Police said Bran-Lopez is potentially dangerous, so people should not approach him.

“It is imperative to emphasize that members of the public should not attempt to apprehend Lopez themselves, as he may pose a risk to others,” the department said on Facebook.

If you see him, call Lexington Police at 308-324-2317 or 911 if it’s an emergency.
