A 76-year-old Lincoln man lost more than $2,000 to scammers.
Police said he has Alzheimer’s disease.
The man’s daughter reported her father responded to a pop-up ad on his laptop that said it needed repairs that would cost $1,000.
He agreed to pay the money and gave the scammer access to the computer.
Police said the scammers turned on the camera on his laptop while the victim held up a blank check.
The scammers used the bank information to steal money on two different days.
His daughter reported it to police and the bank, who are working to get his money back.
