Bomb threat in Lincoln neighborhood
Lincoln residents were evacuated from their homes when a bomb threat was called into authorities

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)- What started as a report to LPD of a man threatening a driver with a hatchet, turned into a bomb threat Wednesday afternoon.
Lincoln police received a call from the same man who reported the hatchet calling in about a bomb threat. Police then contacted the man holding an incendiary device on the porch of a residence, he was reported to be the same man with a hatchet.
Police say they negotiated and attempted to deescalate the situation, but the man poured gasoline around him and on himself and told the police to kill him.
LPD evacuated residences nearby the bomb threat and SWAT teams were called on scene.
Around 8:45 pm, police say they used less-lethal weapons to take down the man, then he was put into police custody and taken to the hospital and will be put in jail when released from the hospital.
Lincoln Fire and Rescue proceeded to search the home and ensure safety.
The name of the man has not yet been released.
