LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Portions of two Lincoln roads will close Tuesday, city officials say.

The affected roads, Ninth Street and South 56th Street, are scheduled to be completed by Friday, the Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Department said.

The closures are as follows:

  • The intersection of 56th Street and Old Cheney Road will have several lane closures for railroad maintenance. The intersection will be closed from 9 a.m. to noon Friday to test railroad arms. Access to businesses will be maintained. The recommended detour is Nebraska Parkway to 48th Street to Old Cheney.
  • Several lanes of Ninth Street between S and Q streets will be closed for private construction.

Digital signs will alert drivers to upcoming work and closures. Travelers are encouraged to seek an alternate route and exercise caution around the area.

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities said it appreciates the public’s patience during the closures.

Officials said to contact Shane Dostal for more information on street closures at 402-525-7852 or email sdostal@lincoln.ne.gov.
