Potentially record-breaking heat going forward

Mother Nature will continue to crank up the heat on Monday. Mostly sunny skies will help temperatures reach summer-like standards across the area. High temperatures will likely reach the middle-90s for many, and it will be humid during the afternoon.

Monday Forecast

We’re forecasting a high near 95° in Lincoln on Monday, which is a few degrees shy of the record high temperature. Tuesday should be an even warmer day, with the potential for upper-90s. Our forecast high of 98° in Lincoln would shatter the record high of 96° set back in 2016 and 2018.

Record Heat - Next 2 Days

The warming trend comes to a screeching halt as a cold front passes late Tuesday. That will send temperatures plummeting into the 60s and 70s for the rest of the week. The cooldown also comes with an increase in rain chances. Stormcast is hinting at the potential for a few rounds of precipitation.

Stormcast Wednesday Afternoon

The change in temperatures is very timely. The Autumnal Equinox, otherwise known as Astronomical Fall, will occur at 8:03 p.m. Thursday. That said, temperatures will seemingly align with the change in season.
