Preparing for winter snowfall
Reminders on residents responsibilities in the winter in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)-On this day last year, Lincoln residents were experiencing their first snowfall of the season.
City officials want to remind residents that now is the best time to winterize their homes. Detach any hoses and cover the pipes.
There will be 5 companies clearing snow from the residential roads this year. Lincoln Fire and Rescue Cheif Dave Engler stated in a news conference, that last year first responders had to clear snow from fire hydrants before being able to take care of the emergency, which hindered their efforts to be as effective as possible. Residents must clear sidewalks and fire hydrants by 9 A.M following snowfall. If you are unable to shovel or snow blow your property, either ask for help from a neighbor, friend, or family member. Lincoln residents also have the option to use Snow Angles, who are volunteers helping their neighbors during the winter. They are also looking for more volunteers this year, to be able to help as many residents as possible.
