LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A member of the MS-13 gang was arrested Monday in Grand Island, the U.S. Attorney’s Office says.

Gerson Emir Cuadra Soto of Honduras was charged in federal court in Lincoln with illegal entry of an unlawfully present alien.

An unsealed complaint affidavit alleges that Cuadra Soto was a leader in MS-13 who was part of a “professional” assassination squad for the criminal organization.

In 2022, he was charged in Honduras with firearms charges related to a quadruple homicide.

Cuadra Soto and two co-defendants were then able to bribe their way out of the Honduran jail, according to the attorney’s office.

He then entered the United States illegally by crossing into Texas from Mexico.

Cuadra Soto got a California driver’s license with his true identity, the attorney’s office said.

Federal agents tracked Cuadra Soto to his home in Grand Island, where he was taken into custody without incident on Monday.
