Project O Street pre-construction traffic changes set to start Sunday

Lincoln Unveils $35 Million Project To Improve O Street Downtown

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Department on Tuesday announced traffic changes for the O Street Project.

On Sunday, westbound lanes on O Street between 13th and 16th streets will close for tree removal and pre-construction work.

One lane in each direction will remain open to traffic, according to LTU.

Crews will also perform minor pavement and sidewalk work in select areas. Sidewalks will remain open to pedestrians, keeping convenient access for the community.

As trees are removed during the project, three trees will be planted in its place, according to the city.

“Digital signs will alert traffic to upcoming work and closures,” LTU said in a press release. “Drivers and pedestrians should follow signage, allow extra travel time, and stay alert near work zones. LTU appreciates the public’s patience during this work and reminds residents that project dates are subject to change due to weather and unforeseen circumstances.”

A Project O Street pre-construction open house will be held in the lobby of Union Bank Place from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Project staff will be available to answer questions and share information about planned improvements, project phasing and the construction schedule.
