Prom is on for LPS seniors and the hunt begins for dresses
Limited attendance and masks are just some of the requirements set to make prom happen this year for Lincoln Public Schools.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Limited attendance and masks are just some of the requirements set to make prom happen this year for Lincoln Public Schools.
The district said they have been working for months with the health department to follow all health guidelines so seniors wouldn’t miss out on a special tradition.
Only those in the senior class will be allowed to attend and no outside or underclassmen dates can attend. All of this to ensure gathering restrictions are met.
Even with some limitations, it’s got lots of girls on the hunt for the perfect dress. With prom being up in the air for this year, some are having trouble finding outfits.
“They’re out there looking and the inventory is not that great. A lot of the read a lot of the reason for that is, I think a lot of the stores or the shops were not expecting prom either,” Lori Black, the owner of Lincoln Formal Boutique, said.
Black said it’s been steady for her shop since the announcement. With a plethora of dresses to choose from, many are eager for prom night. For parents of seniors, this offers a sense of normalcy to their last year in high school.
LPS said they are going to continue to monitor community conditions and plans are subject to change.
