Proposed ethanol expansion
It’s believed the president will talk about expanding ethanol 15 all year long.
Sarah Caswell with the Nebraska Ethanol Board said, “This is a really great day for the Nebraska Ethanol industry and really our entire state.”
It’s expected the president will soon be directing the EPA to approve the use of E15 gas year round.
Right now, it’s only available from September thru April.
The state of Nebraska has been advocating this, saying it will be a great boost to the state’s economy.
“Increases markets for corn farmers here in Nebraska, ethanol producers, fuel retailers, consumers… It is just a win, win, win all the way around for our state,” said Caswell.
A final ruling from the EPA is required.
The ethanol board says drivers can expect a more affordable option at the pump if it is allowed to be sold year round.
