Prosecution outlines Trail’s, Boswell’s movements before and after Lincoln woman’s death

During the Aubrey Trail murder trial Wednesday, the prosecution brought in more witnesses who said they encountered Trail, Bailey Boswell and another woman in the days following Sydney Loofe’s disappearance.

One witness worked at the La Quinta hotel in Kearney and said the three checked out of their hotel the same day they checked in on Nov. 23, 2017.

“There was three people, a guy and two girls,” Ayla Frerichs said.  “They went into the room and then no more than five, 10 minutes later, they came out with their luggage.  And the housekeeper and I looked at each other because we thought it was really odd.”

The woman with Trail and Boswell, whose initials are K.B. had testified on Tuesday that it was around that time that Lincoln police left a voicemail on her phone, which she played for Trail and Boswell.

She said that’s when Trail told her they were going to flee the state.

The defense had questioned K.B. whether or not it was possible if she helped dispose of Sydney Loofe’s remains.  The woman’s answer was she didn’t know.

FBI agent Mike Maseth said based on K.B.’s phone records, she was in Omaha at the time authorities said Trail and Boswell dumped Sydney’s remains.

Maseth also presented records of Tinder messages Sydney and Boswell sent each other, including on the day Sydney disappeared.

Investigators said later that day, Boswell and Sydney went on another date and that’s when she disappeared.

The Trial will pick back up Monday.

One of the prosecuting attorneys said they expect it to wrap by the end of next week.
