Public invited to meet UNL’s priority candidate for chancellor this week

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A series of public forums gets underway this Monday as UNL looks to replace Ronnie Green as chancellor.

You’re invited to ask priority candidate Rodney Bennett questions and hear about his vision for the future.

Bennett previously served as president of the University of Southern Mississippi.

He’s credited with helping it become a top tier research institution and stabilizing the budget.

Bennett was named as the priority candidate back in May, following a national search.

His candidacy is currently undergoing a 30-day vetting period, as required by state law.

If approved by the Board of Regents, Bennett would become the first person of color to become UNL’s chancellor.

The board’s next meeting is set for June 22.
