Pursuit leads to two-vehicle crash on O Street in west Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A pursuit led to a two-vehicle crash in west Lincoln on Monday, the Nebraska State Patrol said.
Around 7:57 p.m., a Seward County deputy saw a Mercedes SUV driving at a high rate of speed on Interstate 80 near Goehner.
The trooper tried to pull over the vehicle but the driver, 27-year-old Marcus Vogt, refused to stop, according to the Seward County Sheriff’s Office.
The trooper continued following Vogt on county roads until they couldn’t see the vehicle and ended the pursuit.
Shortly after, Vogt was seen once again driving quickly on Highway 6 near Rokeby Road, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies stopped the pursuit after Vogt reached Lancaster County.
Around 8:30 p.m., a trooper saw the Mercedes strike a Ford truck near the intersection of Highway 77 and O Street.
Troopers close to the scene immediately rushed to help those involved in the crash, the patrol said.
No troopers were ever in pursuit of Vogt, according to the patrol.
Vogt and two others in the Mercedes along with the driver of the Ford were taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries. They have since been released.
After being released, Vogt was then turned over to the Seward County Sheriff’s Office after they discovered the car had been stolen.
He was arrested on suspicion of theft by receiving stolen property, operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, speeding and violating a stop sign.
The patrol says they have begun an investigation into the crash.
