Quiet and turning cloudy into the weekend
Only a few snow reports came out of the light snow mainly seen just west of Lincoln yesterday. Grand Island reported half an inch, meanwhile Hastings had about 0.2″ of snow. It was enough for some slick spots through the evening.
Morning temperatures Friday are in the low to mid 20s – rather comfortable for this time of year! More clouds may move in by the end of the morning.
Temperatures will be slightly cooler Friday afternoon than they were on Thursday, closer to the freezing mark to close out the first full work week of the new year.
Warmer temperatures will be in the forecast for western Nebraska, namely the southwest corner of the state.
Afternoon wind chills because of a northwest breeze will be in the 20s.
Other than a few flurries, we continue to miss out on winter weather for the next several days.
This could be a good opportunity to get a car wash if you have yet to do that since the last round of winter. A few flurries will be possible at any point really through the weekend as we turn mostly cloudy.
** Update as of 10am Friday morning: A spotty light wintry mix is showing up now for Saturday into the early evening hours. From that, a quick round of light rain/snow is possible.
While we’ll be close to 40° on Saturday, the middle and end of next week look promising for another warm up with temperatures potentially well in the 40s Thursday and Friday.
