Quiet day to enjoy before storms return late Thursday
First few weeks of May have been very wet – compared to this time last year, especially! Through the first three weeks of May in 2023, Lincoln had only seen about half an inch of rainfall. This year it’s over three inches!
A dry day is very much needed for many, and a dry day is what we get today. Less humidity and a lot less wind in the forecast for what should be a wonderful Wednesday.
After starting out the day in the lower 50s, temperatures should warm into the upper 70s with clearing cloud cover and tons of sun.
It’ll certainly be one of the quieter days of this week before we’re switching gears to focus on another severe threat. Thursday into Friday is highlighted by the Storm Prediction Center for severe storms expected to track through the eastern two-thirds of Nebraska. A Slight (Level 2 of 5) risk is in place for most of us.
There may be some scattered strong storms in southeast Nebraska in the early evening, but there’s higher confidence is a line of storms developing in north-central Nebraska around that same time that dives southeast through the night. Arrival time in Lincoln and southeast Nebraska looks to be just after midnight toward 1 a.m. Friday morning.
We’ll continue to talk about this risk in future updates, so check back in frequently as we get closer to this timeframe.
