Quiet weather before a more unsettled pattern arrives

Quiet weather will stick around on Tuesday, leaving the near-term forecast uneventful. We expect sunny skies in eastern Nebraska, with highs in the upper-60s to near 70°. This is on par with the average high of 70° in Lincoln for this time of year.

Tuesday Forecast

It will also be a touch breezy on Tuesday, although slightly less windy than it was on Monday. Winds will be out of the NNW sustained at 10-20 mph, with some gusts pushing 25 mph during the afternoon. However, wind speeds will be a lot lower in central Nebraska.

Stormcast Wind Gusts Tuesday

The lower wind speeds will migrate east on Wednesday, allowing eastern Nebraska to experience a reduction in wind. Meanwhile, winds will transition out of the south in central/western Nebraska on Wednesday, resulting in breezier conditions in that direction.

Stormcast Wind Gusts Wednesday

Wednesday also features mostly sunny skies in Lincoln, but we’ll see clouds approaching from the west late. In fact, there may be some widely scattered storms in western Nebraska on Wednesday evening.

Stormcast Wednesday Evening

Lincoln appears to get through Wednesday dry. However, a more unsettled pattern arrives on Thursday. This will open the door for daily storm chances at least through the weekend.

It’s important to remember as we head into storm season that storm chances often mean that we’ll just have storms in the area. They’ll dodge some locations in their very nature. So while your backyard may not see rain every day through this weekend, there are several opportunities.
