Quite warm for quite a while; dry stretch in eastern Nebraska lasts into next week
Steady, warm temperatures continue today, this weekend and next week. Several days in a row our high temperatures will be in the 80s with sunshine.
It has been nice though to have morning temperatures cooling to the lower and middle 50s lately.
These temperatures are more typical for late August, but they’re lasting late into September this year.
This isn’t record warmth, though. Record high temperatures in Lincoln for Friday, Saturday and Sunday are 95 (1990), 94 (2021) and 102 (1953).
After a very warm afternoon in the middle 80s, our Game of the Week will still have temperatures in the upper 70s by kickoff.
Lincoln Lutheran is the home team against Raymond Central at Aldrich field in Lincoln tonight.
With a bye week for the Huskers, you may be planning for some fall fun for the weekend. A cold front will pass through and give us a northerly wind shift on Saturday, but highs will still remain warm in the 80s and no precipitation is expected.
Through the weekend, the forecast looks pretty similar day after day. Dew points look to be in the lower 60s for a little feeling of humidity with some of these warmer temperatures by the afternoon.
Models through the first part of next Tuesday are only hinting at a little precipitation possible for western Nebraska.
Eastern Nebraska will be dry likely through the end of the month, if not into the first couple days of October as well.
