Rain showers likely second half of St. Patrick’s Day 3/17/2022

Your St. Patrick’s Day is off to a mild start with temperatures in the 40s and 50s! Temperatures will hover around the upper 40s and low 50s this afternoon and evening thanks to cloudy skies preventing our warming. The clouds eventually will lead to very spotty rain showers this afternoon, before chances increase this evening and overnight. Areas south of I-80 have the highest chances of seeing the scattered showers, with the highest rainfall totals expected near the Kansas border. Wind speeds will also be gusty today and tonight with wind gusts around 25-30 mph or higher at times. Rain showers will turn into snow flurries overnight as temperatures fall near the freezing mark. This will result in minor accumulation totals around a trace to and inch near the Kansas border. We dry out for Friday and only warm into the mid-50s for highs. Temperatures don’t return above average until the weekend with highs in the 60s and 70s.
