Raiola named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Big Ten Conference announced Monday that Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola will take home Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors.

Raiola became the second true freshman QB to start a season opener for Nebraska, joining Adrian Martinez who started in 2018 against Colorado.

He completed 19-of-27 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns. 192 of those yards came in the first half.

Both of Raiola’s touchdown passes came in the second quarter as they outscored UTEP 23-0. Those 23 points are the most Nebraska has scored in a single quarter since 2018.

The last Husker to take home freshman of the week honors was Malcolm Hartzog in 2022.
