Raymond Central rides dominant ground game, stays undefeated
PALMYRA, Neb. (KLKN) – The Raymond Central Mustangs dominated on Friday night, going on the road and beating Palmyra 55-19.
The Mustangs started off the game red hot, getting a 25-yard touchdown rush from quarterback Wyatt Jelinek, making the score 14-0 early.
Palmyra answered with a long pass from David Unruh to Dylan Reel to get the Panthers all the way to the 2-yard line.
Unruh was able to sneak it in and get the Panthers on the board. A missed extra point made the score 14-6 Mustangs.
Those were all the points the Panthers would get in the first half.
Raymond Central’s ground game blew the game wide open, rattling off 28 points in the second quarter.
But it was Jelinek’s 61-yard touchdown pass to Tavion Johnson that turned the game into a blowout, making the score 42-6 at the break.
The running clock made it a quick second half, where the Panthers were able to score 13 points in the fourth quarter.
Palmyra dropped its sixth straight game and will look to get its first win of the season as it heads to Lincoln Lutheran next Friday.
Raymond Central moves to 6-0 and will host rival Malcolm next week.
