It’s not a typical swearing in ceremony.
In the mix of the men preparing to take their oath are some new faces and some familiar ones.
Sunday’s swearing in ceremony was a first for Raymond Fire and Rescue.
14 incoming and current firemen took or renewed their oath.
"When taking that oath, they understand the role and responsibility they are taking on, along with the training," Shane Cuttlers, Assistant Fire Chief, said.
For some men the honor of wearing the badge is meaningful, but what meant more is having their family for support.
"We are proud of you daddy.”
This volunteer fireman says it’s those moments that make late nights, and long hours away from his family worth it.
"You know when that page goes off it could be three in the morning. My boys, every time it goes off, they say I love you, 410be safe," Gary England, Fireman, said.
Raymond Fire Chief Greg Hall organized the ceremony. He says its one thing he wanted to do before he handed over the title of Chief on Monday.
"It was one of those things that I saw a need for. For us to recognize something we were missing in our endeavors," Greg Hall, Fire Chief, said.
Taking over the title of Chief is Shane Cuttlers.
He swore in Sunday afternoon, and says the moment was worth the commitment.
His three daughters were there to place his badge on his uniform.
"It was everything because they got to feel apart of it," Cuttlers, said.
Raymond Fire and Rescue hopes this will be the first annual swearing in ceremony.
