Raymond fire department raises money to restore 1940s fire engine

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Volunteer firefighters from Raymond are hoping to restore their department’s original fire engine.

They held a community burger feed Monday night to raise money for the project.

It will be a collection piece that travels to car shows and other events to show the department’s pride.

“Something that we can take around to parades in the area and just off and take to car shows,” said Fire Chief Nick Monnier.

The fire engine dates to the 1940s.

The repairs are expected to cost $30,000 to $50,000.

Raymond Volunteer Fire & Rescue hopes to reach that goal in three to five years.

Watch the department’s Facebook page for announcements on fundraisers.
