‘Really angry’: Crete grandmother has Christmas gifts stolen from front doorstep
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — For one grandmother, Christmas shopping is checked off her list.
But instead of wrapping presents, she’s now left with an empty doorstep and missing packages she never got to touch.
“I’m just really angry, and it’s upsetting,” Angie Martinez said.
Martinez has lived in Crete for many years.
After ordering a Christmas gift for her grandkids and receiving an email confirming delivery, she was devastated to find the box missing.
“To replace this one gift, it’s going to be about an extra day’s worth of work,” Martinez said. “It’s upsetting. I already work hard enough to live check-to-check.”
She posted on Facebook to let others know about the incident and to share her frustration.
And to her surprise, she isn’t alone.
“It’s happened a lot in the community by what people are saying,” she said. “It’s aggravating and sad. Luckily this year, I can still go get him a present, but there’s a lot of people in the community that can’t afford it.”
From now on, she’s choosing a different path for receiving her gifts.
“We do have somebody else who is getting their stuff delivered at the job site, so I probably will have it delivered there from now on,” she said. “Otherwise, I will be getting it sent to the Post Office to get it picked up.”
