Recap: Day One of Nebraska state volleyball tournament
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Twenty-four teams were in action Wednesday at Pinnacle Bank Arena for the first round of 2024’s high school state tournament.
A total of six Lincoln-area schools were fighting to survive, but only two are moving to the next round.
Norris defeated Lincoln Pius X 3-0 in the early morning game. The Titans continued their dominance, with only one loss on the season.
The match that followed was York vs. Elkhorn North.
The Dukes got off to hot start in the first set, but after the Wolves got their groove going, there was no looking back.
Elkhorn North took down York in a sweep and will face off against Norris on Friday at 5 p.m.
But another Class B school was firing on all cylinders Wednesday afternoon.
Waverly is moving on after a sweep over Bennington. The Vikings won 25-23, 25-20, 25-17. They’ll pair up with Omaha Skutt Catholic on Friday at 7 p.m.
Lincoln North Star fought a hard fight in its last match of the season, but the Navigators also went down in three sets at the hands of Papillion La Vista South.
